We started fireworks at Grammy's on the runway. There is really no better place to shoot off paratroopers than on the runway, friends. Highlights include Mark picking up Will + Charlie and running around wildly, determined to catch one falling from the sky with the kids in tow.
Will had the time of his life, in case you can't tell from this smile on his face. He is so much like his papa.
I love Lewis more when he is wearing earmuffs.
Okay, I still love him here, but seriously.
Next stop, the Mississippi river for the real deal. I grew up thinking this was normal - getting to watch all the boats gather with their little lights, sitting on the banks of a cute river town with popcorn + sparklers, fireworks shot off a big barge in the middle of the river. Now, I realize it was a special treat all along.
So glad we get to share it with the next generation.
Charlotte and I had a few pep talks about the fireworks + about how she could be brave + about how it would be worth it + about how she could wear big earmuffs in case it was too loud + about how, no, the earmuffs don't hurt your head or squeeze out your brains.
Anyone else treasure the underexposed, grainy + blurry photos?
Such a fun couple of days. Now I can't wait for summer!
